Obituary For Amalia Constance Rodriguez Colchado
In Loving Memory of Amalia Constance Rodriguez Colchado
May 24, 1952 – October 14, 2026
Amalia Constance Rodriguez Colchado, 74, a lifelong resident of the historic city of Gonzales, Texas, was welcomed into God’s loving embrace on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
She was born in Gonzales on May 24, 1952, to Manuel Contreras Rodriguez and Soila Liguez Rodriguez. She was lovingly raised by her aunt, Anjelita Fonseca, and built a life surrounded by family and friends in the community she always called home.
Affectionately known as “Tia Emmy” to her nieces and nephews, “Mommy” to her daughter, “Emma” by her son-in-law, and “Emily” by her friends and the community that knew and loved her, Amalia had a special gift for making people laugh. Her playful spirit, silly sense of humor, and genuine kindness brought joy to those around her. She enjoyed music, dancing, and, above all, spending time with those she loved.
Her love for family was matched by her deep devotion to God. A devout Catholic and member of St. James Catholic Church, Amalia found strength and comfort in her faith throughout her life. In moments of joy and times of sorrow, she turned to the Lord in heartfelt prayer. She continued to give praise and honor to her Heavenly Father through life’s blessings and hardships, carrying that faith with her until the end of her earthly journey.
Amalia was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Contreras Rodriguez and Soila Liguez Rodriguez; her aunt who raised her, Anjelita Fonseca; her adopted brother, Johnny Ray Fonseca; and her brothers-in-law, Kenneth Nelson Kluting and Narcisio Martinez.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Anne Navarro (Joe Angel Rosas-Navarro); her sisters, Mary Kluting and Jaunita Martinez; her nieces, Michelle Decker (Tim Decker) and Kena Heath (William Brite); and her nephews, Kenny Kluting (Debby Kluting) and Destry Kluting (Corina Kluting).
She is also survived by her great-nieces and great-nephews: Tabitha Barborak (Nolan Barborak); Timothy Decker (Courtney Decker); Niki Banda (the late Lorenzo Banda); Joshua Heath (Avery Heath); Cameron Cardona (Heber Cardona); Travis Decker; Mariah McBride; Isaac Kluting; Zander Kluting; Ethan Morales; Elizabeth Kluting; Isabella Morales; and Kendall Kluting.
Amalia also leaves behind many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, numerous cousins, extended family members, and dear friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Her laughter, kindness, and love will remain in the hearts of her family and friends. With love and faith, they entrust her to God’s care, finding comfort in the promise of eternal life and the hope of being together again.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
