Bennie Ray Hamby, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away at home on September 16, 2026, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on October 3, 1951, in San Angelo, Texas, to Ekel Thomas Hamby and Mary Lucille Battles Hamby, Bennie was the fifth of eight children. He has five children: Timmy Hamby, TJ Hamby, Charles Hamby, April Hamby Gutierrez, and Helen Myers. He has twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Bennie’s life was a tapestry of stories, laughter, family, friendship, and cherished memories that will forever be etched in our hearts. He had an extraordinary ability to make strangers feel like old friends, and family held the utmost importance for him. He cherished the moments spent with those he loved deeply.

Bennie’s greatest love was his wife, Peggy, his beloved companion for fifty years. Their love was the very essence of his life, a steadfast presence through every joy and hardship. Peggy was his partner, his solace, and his home. Their fifty-year journey together created a lifetime of unforgettable memories that will forever reside in the hearts of those who knew them.

After a prolonged battle with heart failure, Bennie’s earthly journey came to an end, leaving behind a family shattered by his passing. Yet, they find solace in knowing that his suffering has ceased. Bennie has finally attained peace, resting in the embrace of eternal tranquility.

His memory will endure through his wife, Peggy; his family; his siblings; his grandchildren; and the countless friends and loved ones whose lives he touched.

Though Bennie may no longer be with us in body, his laughter, his stories, his unwavering stubbornness, his boundless love, and the memories he created will forever remain.

Rest peacefully, Bennie. Your pain has been alleviated, your earthly work is complete, and you are finally free. You were deeply loved, and your absence will be profoundly felt.
