Obituary For Collins Joseph Roussel, III
Collins Joseph Roussel III, known lovingly as "Bubba," passed away on August 22, 2026, in Seguin, Texas, at the age of seventy-seven, due to complications from a trucking accident sustained in 2021. Born on July 5, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Collins lived a life rich in love, faith, and purpose.
As a young boy, Collins sat across the street watching a precious eleven-year-old girl named Dianne play with her dolls under a tree. That girl became his childhood sweetheart, and on July 21, 1967, in Metairie, Louisiana, they married when both were just eighteen years old. Together, Collins and Dianne proudly raised four beautiful, independent daughters. He took great pride in his wife and in the accomplished women his daughters became, with careers spanning hair design, nursing, master gardening, and painting.
Collins built a diverse and adventurous career. He was the proud owner of Roussel Welding Equipment and Supplies, served as Principal of the House at a stock broking company, traveled to Africa with Shell Oil, and worked throughout Texas in the oil industry as a commercial driver. Naturally reserved, he possessed a dry sense of humor defined by a look his family knows well. He cherished art, travel, gardening, and sharing stories of his Sicilian heritage with those he loved. Before his accident, he was known for his beautiful calligraphy handwriting.
Collins is survived by his devoted wife, Dianne Gay Hensley Roussel; his daughters, Natalie Dean Roussel, Jennifer Dianne Roussel, Rachel Renee Roussel, and Emily Fay Roussel Knatzer (Brandon); his sister, Diane Roussel McDonald; his brothers, Paul Roussel and Michael Roussel; his ten grandchildren, Timothy Collins Roussel {Elora}, Sarah Dianne Parrish, Brittany Schneider Spreen, {Casey} Collin Grant Schneider, Heather Nicole Laurent, Holly Elizabeth Laurent, Heidi Francis York, Sophia Arianna Roussel-Reyes Badeaux {Caleb}, Ezra Alexander Knatzer, Gia Marie Knatzer; and numerous great-grandchildren, loving sister in law Carolyn Keen, extended family, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Collins Joseph Roussel Jr. and Marie Rumore Roussel; Beloved Mother in law, Francis Fay Harp known as "Nanny," and Brother in Law, William Burton Hensley known as "Billy."
Baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in December 1971, Collins served faithfully alongside his wife at the Landa Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Texas. He served as a Ministerial servant in the kenner Congregation in kenner La.
As stated in 2 Timothy 4:7, Collins "fought the good fight" until the very end. His family finds comfort in the words of John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life," and in the promise of Revelation 21:4, that "death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry nor pain be anymore." Collins often spoke of the peace found in Psalm 34:18, that "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit." May he now rest in the care of Jehovah, his loving Shepherd, in those well-watered resting places where he shall lack nothing.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
