Obituaries

Donald (Don) E. Couch was born January 8, 1943 in Hamilton, Ohio and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 21, 2026.

Don served in the United States Air Force in communications as a radio operator and later a frequency manager. Don’s military career spanned many years and saw him stationed and deployed all over the world. While stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, he met a Barry girl and never looked back. Love, passion and adventure brought three children to their union. Don would later use his military skills to benefit the State of Texas and the City of Austin working in emergency management.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Foy and Della (Johnson) Couch; his sister Mary; one niece and two nephews.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda D. Barry; son Arik Couch; son Dain Couch and daughter-in-law Dolores; daughter Sheryl Perry; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister Carol; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. He is also survived by his beloved and loyal canine companion Patty. Wherever he went, she followed.

Don’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit, smile and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

To honor Don, a memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma at a later date.
