Michael Anthony Rye, 60 years old, of San Marcos, Texas, passed away February 26, 2026 at Cypress Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in San Marcos Texas. He passed quietly in the company of family.

Michael was born October 13, 1965 in St. Paul, MN to parents Patrica A. Blocker (Malkush) and Gerald V. Elstran. He grew up in the Twin Cities area and graduated from Mahtomedi High School in 1984. After high school Michael moved to Houston, Texas where he pursued a career in technology which took him to locations around the country and the world. Eventually he settled in San Marcos, Texas where he helped his mother and stepfather operate a retail shipping and receiving business.

Michael had a natural interest and aptitude for anything technological and mechanical. He also had a love for cooking especially cook-offs and participated in various cook-off events including the Houston Livestock and Rodeo. Michael was a fan of NASCAR and hockey; loved cars, computers and his cherished dogs.

Michael is preceded in death by his mother and father; stepfather, William Blocker; maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his sister, Andrea (Brett) Bibby of Houston, Texas and niece Ashlyn Rae Bibby of Boise, ID. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends residing around the country.
