Obituary For Sharon Lynne Parker Brose
Sharon Lynne Parker Brose passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, in San Marcos, Texas, at the age of 93.
She was born on October 20, 1932, in Winfield, Kansas. Sharon graduated from North High School in Wichita, Kansas, and went on to attend the University of Kansas in Lawrence. It was there that she met John Brose, the love of her life, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, adventure, and shared experiences. Sharon majored in English History and was a lifelong member of the Tri Delta sorority, maintaining fond connections and memories from her college years.
Sharon’s favorite childhood days were spent at her grandparents’ farm in Udall, Kansas, where she soaked up their loving attention and developed a lifelong love of animals that stayed with her throughout her life.
A devoted reader, Sharon especially loved historical novels. Her love of history and storytelling inspired her to travel extensively, visiting many of the places she had read about. Alongside her husband John, she made 25 trips to Europe, often bringing along their children and grandchildren, creating cherished family memories across the continent.
Sharon was a woman of many talents and interests. She sewed clothes for herself and her family for decades and was known to occasionally sew for neighbors and for her daughter‘s Barbie dolls. She was an avid golfer in her earlier years and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. She briefly worked as a realtor and was especially skilled at organizing and managing the many moves her family made throughout John’s career. Wherever she lived, Sharon created a warm and welcoming home, with a particular love for Southwestern décor and an appreciation for fine art, especially the work of R.C. Gorman.
She embraced life’s simple pleasures—she loved a good taco or two, often enjoyed with a margarita, and never lost her fondness for sweet tea, chocolate, Pepsi, and cigarettes. These small indulgences were part of her vibrant personality and the life she lived on her own terms.
Sharon had a mind of her own and could not be told what to do—a trait she carried with humor, often sharing a favorite family joke that those closest to her will always remember with a smile.
Above all, Sharon was a devoted and loving mother. She is survived by her children: Susan (Jon) McKeon of Tucson, Arizona; Tom (Cheryl) Brose of San Marcos, Texas; and Greg (Lucy) Brose of Evanston, Wyoming.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Mike (Nikki) McKeon, Katie McKeon, Sarah (Reagan) Squyres, Katie (Mark) Squyres, Margot (Brian) Maxwell, Dan Brose, and John Brose; and one cherished great-grandchild, Ellie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, John Brose.
Sharon will be remembered for her love of family, her adventurous spirit, her strong will, her sense of humor, and her ability to find joy in both grand adventures and everyday moments.
