Obituary For William Michael Riordan

William Michael Riordan, 75, passed away peacefully on Dec 6, 2025 after a lengthy illness with Parkinson's disease. His wife Kathleen was by his side.

He was born in Buffalo, New York to George and Egla Riordan and resided in Seguin, Texas at the time of his death. Surviving family members are sister Mary Riordan Warms and brothers Paul Riordan and Carl Riordan.

Bill was a kind, caring, generous and thoughtful man who possessed an uncanny ability to instantly connect with anyone. He touched many lives with his warmth and outgoing, curious nature. Although he withdrew during the years of his illness, it was fondly noted by his wife that men continued to ask about him and women frequently mentioned how handsome he was and that he had a great laugh.

Bill traveled and worked all over the world as a network installation technician. He worked as a contractor in Saudi Arabia and Korea, was in New York City and New Jersey after Sept 11, 2001 to help restore communications, and frequently traveled to military bases around the United States. He lived on a base in Baghdad during the Iraq war for several months.

It was during a job in 1999 that he met Kathleen. She was standing on top of a counter when he unexpectedly walked in the door of the computer lab where she worked. He walked over and gave her his hand to help her down to eye level. Sparks flew, and she deemed him her knight in shining armor, as he continued to rescue her throughout their lives together. He was also a positive influence in the lives of her children for over 25 years and a loving Papa Bill to her grandson.

Bill had a vast curiosity as a tech nerd and many interests including traveling, riding motorcycles, fishing, woodworking, gardening, sports, astronomy and he knew all the constellations in the night sky. He also had a special love of dogs.

To honor Bill's memory, please leave a comment or story about how you remember him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. If you'd like a way to remember him, please consider donating to a local animal shelter in Bill's memory.

A heartfelt thanks to Guadalupe Regional Hospice who cared for Bill and to all who offered prayers and well wishes during this time.

Papa Bill will be so missed by Hunter and myself. I loved watching Hunter light up when he saw Bill, and the way Bill lit up right back. I loved watching the 2 of them working on projects together or just fishing. Bill never made Hunter feel like he was less than in any way, and always gave him his full attention when talking with him. We love you so much Bill! You can finally watch Hunter play bass at his next orchestra concert
