William Travis Hawk Sr passed away September 6, 2026 in New Braunfels, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 3, 1952 in Orange Texas to William T. Lee Sr and Martha Jo Griffith. His mother later married Phillip Hawk, who then adopted Martha’s 4 children and raised them as his own. Known to his family as Billy and to friends and co-workers as Travis, he was a man of deep faith and great love for his family.

He served in the US Air Force and was stationed in various bases stateside and overseas in Germany and South Korea. He served in the military police while in the service of his country.

After his military service, he held many positions, always striving to make a living for his family. He ultimately found his niche in computer programming and held many positions in the field until his retirement in 2018. Never one to sit on his hands, he even worked part time as a sewing machine service technician after retirement!

He loved to travel and visit new and interesting places. Whether on a motorcycle, plane, car or a ship, he was adventurous and happiest when he was traveling. His travels spawned an interest in photography and sparked his love of “blue bonnet hunting” expeditions throughout Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Maria (Lupe) Hawk; 4 children: Travis Lee Hawk (Julie) of Oklahoma City, OK , Reagan Hawk of Victoria, TX, William T. Hawk Jr. (Rebecca) of Victoria, TX, David Hawk of Sioux Falls SD; 2 step-children Christine Standley of San Francisco, CA and Michael Standley, of Monterey CA; nine grand-children; and four siblings, Betty Hawk Moeller (Nelson), Barbara Hawk Robson (Jim), Tommy Hawk (Gail), James Hawk (Carol).

He is preceded in death by his parents Phill and Martha Hawk, and sister Kathy Kauffman.

The family would like to thank the Hope Hospice team in New Braunfels Texas for the loving care and support provided during his brief illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in his memory be directed to Hope Hospice, 611 N. Walnut Avenue, New Braunfels TX 78130

He will be laid to rest at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas. Details of his interment will be provided at a later date.
